SAPS warns South Africans about fake police recruitment adverts

Police also reminded prospective applicants that it does not charge any fees during the recruitment process.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has warned the public against a growing number of fake recruitment advertisements circulating on social media and other online platforms.

In a statement, SAPS said it had noted with “serious concern” the spread of misleading posts claiming to advertise police trainee intake opportunities.

The police urged members of the public not to share or forward the fake advertisements, warning that doing so could aid fraudulent activities.

SAPS stressed that all official vacancies are advertised only through its official website, and its verified communication platforms.

Police also reminded prospective applicants that it does not charge any fees during the recruitment process.

THE SAPS WILL NEVER request any form of payment at any stage of a recruitment process.

“Any request for payment should be treated as fraudulent and reported,” the statement read.
