Thousands of aviation enthusiasts are flocking to Pietermaritzburg Airport today as the Fuze Pietermaritzburg Airshow returns with its biggest and most ambitious programme yet, transforming the airport into a hub of aerial spectacle, entertainment and family fun.
The third annual airshow, hosted by Fuze Aviation Academy, has drawn large crowds from across KwaZulu-Natal and beyond, further cementing Pietermaritzburg’s growing reputation as a destination for major aviation events.

Recognised as South Africa’s third-best airshow in 2025, this year’s edition features expanded aerial displays by the South African Air Force and the South African Police Service Air Wing, alongside demonstrations by experienced private pilots.
Visitors are being treated to precision flying displays, thrilling helicopter manoeuvres and breathtaking aerial performances showcasing the skill and professionalism of South Africa’s aviation sector.

Speaking ahead of the event, Fuze Aviation Academy chief executive officer Dr Thandi Ngcobo said the airshow was designed not only to entertain but also to inspire the next generation of aviators.
“This year’s airshow promises to raise the bar with spectacular flight demonstrations,” she said.

Beyond the action in the skies, attendees are enjoying a full-day festival featuring classic and vintage vehicle displays, bikers, drum majorettes, cultural performances and a range of family-friendly entertainment celebrating the heritage of KZN.
One of the day’s biggest highlights is expected to be a live performance by Grammy Award-winning group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Nomusa Dube-Ncube is also attending the event, underscoring its growing national significance.
