Police investigate theft of 27 sheep and goats worth R63 600

After searching the surrounding area without success, the owner reported the theft to police, who opened a stock theft case.

Police in Lebowakgomo have launched an investigation after 27 livestock animals, valued at about R63,600, were stolen from a kraal at Makotse Newstands in Limpopo.

According to police, a 61-year-old livestock owner’s shepherd secured 16 sheep and 11 goats in the kraal at about 5.30 pm on Friday, July 3, before leaving the property.

When the owner returned at about 5.45 am on Saturday, July 4, he found that the kraal had been forcibly opened and all the animals were missing.

After searching the surrounding area without success, the owner reported the theft to police, who opened a stock theft case.

Investigations are under way, with officers following up on leads to identify those responsible and recover the stolen livestock.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact the investigating officer, Captain Olga Kekana, on 082 414 1610, the Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111, the nearest police station, or submit information anonymously through the MySAPS app.
