WATCH | Drunk woman arrested after driving on wrong side of road

The motorist was allegedly heavily intoxicated when she crashed into road infrastructure before driving into oncoming traffic.

A young woman, allegedly heavily intoxicated, was arrested after crashing into road infrastructure and then allegedly driving on the wrong side of the N2.

When Park Rynie RTI officers tried speaking to the woman, she allegedly became unruly and repeatedly asked officers if they knew who she was.

She is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma said the situation continued for about an hour, during which the woman allegedly threatened officials and argued with them.

Duma added that RTI officers eventually asked her a simple question: “Nenzani la ezweni?” However, she failed to respond and was immediately arrested on Youth Day.

Duma said he would issue a formal statement on road accidents involving young people, particularly during the month of June.
