Police seize drugs worth R900,000, two arrested

A 51-year-old man and his 29-year-old girlfriend were arrested for possession and dealing in drugs, as well as possession of a prohibited firearm.

Western Cape police have arrested two suspects following the discovery of drugs valued at approximately R900,000 during an intelligence-led operation in Mfuleni on Wednesday morning.

The Anti-Economic Crime Task Team, working with the Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team, searched a premises in Minstreal Street at around 4:30 am on Wednesday.

Police said they found 433,16 grams of crystal meth, two sachets of crack cocaine, 13.71 grams of mandrax powder, four mandrax tablets, 6,693 grams of ecstasy, a modified imitation firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspects are expected to appear in court on charges of drug possession and dealing, and possession of a prohibited firearm.
