Ramaphosa enlists King Misuzulu in call for calm

President Cyril Ramaphosa has enlisted the support of King Misuzulu kaZwelithini in the government’s efforts to address growing tensions around illegal immigration, while warning that no individual has the authority to enforce immigration laws or demand proof of nationality from others.

Ramaphosa met King Misuzulu at the official presidential residence, Mahlamba Ndlopfu, in Pretoria on Sunday as part of the government’s ongoing engagements with key stakeholders on its approach to managing migration amid heightened public concern over undocumented foreign nationals.
During the meeting, Ramaphosa reaffirmed that enforcing South Africa’s immigration laws remains the sole responsibility of the state and law enforcement agencies.
