Durban anti-illegal immigration protest remain peaceful
Amabutho, MK Party supporters and individuals affiliated to the March and March Movement were among the demonstrators.
Police maintained a heavy presence in Durban as March and March anti-immigration protesters were about to reach their destination at the Point Police Station.
The protesters departed from the King Dinizulu Park at around noon, and marched through the Durban CBD on Tuesday.

While some protesters were armed with sticks and knobkerries, at around 14:30, the protest continued to be peaceful.
Amabutho, MK Party supporters and individuals affiliated to the March and March Movement were among the demonstrators.
Since Tuesday morning law enforcement members maintained a strong presence throughout the Durban CBD.
South African Police Service members and eThekwini Metro Police were out in full force along West Streewhile an SAPS helicopter monitored the protest from the skies.
Social media personality Nkosikhona “Phakelumthakathi” Ndabandaba was among the leaders of Tuesday’s Durban protest.

Ndabandaba, who led a group of amabutho (Zulu regiments) made it clear that the protest was apolitical.
“Even in this group which Im leading in today’s march, we made it clear that no one wearing political party t-shirts will be allowed join us,” he said.
