Fire crews battle overnight Curry’s Post landfill blaze
Motorists have been urged to avoid Curry's Post Road near the cemetery, where smoke from the fire has reduced visibility and created hazardous driving conditions.
Emergency teams are continuing efforts to extinguish a fire that broke out in the garden refuse section of the Curry’s Post Landfill overnight.
Umgeni Municipality said that firefighters from Sappi, uMngeni Municipality and the uMgungundlovu Fire Services responded to the blaze, with firefighting operations still under way.
