Family members, including child, shot in tavern

A 41-year-old man was shot three times in both thighs, while the 12-year-old girl sustained a gunshot wound to her left leg.

Two members of the same family, including a 12-year-old girl, were injured after gunmen opened fire at a tavern in Thandanani, opposite Trenance Park in KZN, on Saturday night.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), its operations centre received a call for assistance just after 8.30 pm and dispatched reaction officers to the scene.

On arrival, officers were informed that three unidentified armed suspects had opened fire before fleeing.

Both victims were taken to hospital in a private vehicle before officers arrived.

A search of the scene led to the recovery of five spent 9mm cartridges.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, and police investigations are continuing.
