Child critically injured after falling from second-floor apartment

ALS Paramedics said they received multiple calls just before 11.30am reporting that a child had fallen from an apartment in Helen Joseph Road.

A nine-year-old boy has been critically injured after falling from a second-floor apartment block in Davenport, Durban, on Tuesday morning.

ALS Paramedics said they received multiple calls just before 11.30am reporting that a child had fallen from an apartment in Helen Joseph Road.

On arrival, paramedics found the child being attended to by Metro Police Search and Rescue teams after falling approximately 20 metres.

The boy sustained multiple critical injuries and Advanced Life Support paramedics stabilised him at the scene before rushing him to a nearby specialist hospital for further treatment.

The circumstances leading up to the incident are not yet known. SAPS was at the scene and will investigate further.
