Gauteng police nab 776 wanted suspects in Operation Shanela
Police said the team arrested 776 suspects who had been evading arrest for crimes including murder, attempted murder, rape, robbery and assault .
More than 80 people were arrested during a high-density police operation led by Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni in Temba, north of Tshwane, on Saturday evening.
The roadblock formed part of Operation Shanela II and resulted in the arrest of 31 undocumented immigrants, 28 motorists for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, and six people for possession of drugs. Several other suspects were arrested for various offences.

The operation began with a tracing operation carried out by detectives targeting wanted suspects across Gauteng.
Police said the team arrested 776 suspects who had been evading arrest for crimes including murder, attempted murder, rape, robbery and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police said crime prevention operations and investigations will continue across the province.
