Two men detained over alleged stolen goods at scrap yard

Two men were detained after allegedly attempting to sell suspected stolen goods at a scrap yard in Izotsha on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast on Saturday.
Mi7 said reaction officers responded after a client at the scrap yard reported that two men had arrived offering goods for sale.
The items included air-conditioning parts. One of the men claimed the equipment had been issued to him by his employer.

Mi7 contacted the employer to verify the claim and was allegedly informed that the man did not have permission to remove the items, which were suspected to have been stolen from the premises.
The employer requested police intervention and the suspect was detained pending the arrival of police.
A second man was found with gearbox parts, which he claimed belonged to him.
However, he was also detained after it emerged that the first suspect had allegedly asked him to sell the air-conditioning parts. The ownership of the gearbox parts could not immediately be established.

The suspects and the recovered items were handed over to police for further investigation.
