PICS | Seven undocumented foreign nationals arrested in over alleged illicit alcohol operation

Police are searching for the owner of the property, while the suspects are expected to appear in the Ogies Magistrate's Court soon.

Seven undocumented foreign nationals were arrested in Ogies, Mpumalanga, after police uncovered an alleged illegal alcohol manufacturing operation on Saturday.

According to police, officers responded to reports of suspicious activity at a plot in Ogies.

On arrival, they discovered a large quantity of unlabelled alcohol, brewing equipment, chemicals and packaging materials believed to have been used in the production of illicit liquor.

The estimated value of the seized items and alcohol is still being determined.

The seven suspects were arrested and initially charged with contravening the Liquor Act. Following further investigations, police established that all seven were undocumented foreign nationals, resulting in additional charges under the Immigration Act.
