Three arrested in drug crackdown

Three people have been arrested after Western Cape police seized cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, mandrax and ecstasy during separate anti-drug operations on Sunday.

In Bellville, police acted on information about alleged drug dealing in Uys Krige Street, where a 42-year-old man was arrested after officers allegedly found 21 packets of cocaine, two packets of crystal meth, 30 mandrax tablets and 30 ecstasy tablets during a search of the suspect and the premises.

In Delft, officers conducting stop-and-search operations arrested a 33-year-old man after he was allegedly found in possession of four packets of cocaine.

Police also followed up on information about alleged drug dealing in Surburg Walk, Hanover Park, where a 47-year-old woman was arrested after officers allegedly found 50 units of heroin in her possession.

The three suspects are expected to appear in the Bellville and Athlone Magistrates’ Courts on Monday on charges of possession of drugs.
