Pietermaritzburg’s School of Fashion celebrated another successful showing at this year’s Hollywoodbets Durban July on Saturday, with its students and graduates securing top honours across several of the event’s prestigious fashion competitions.

The school produced multiple finalists and winners, underscoring the city’s growing reputation as a hub for emerging South African fashion talent.

In the Classic Raceday Women category, student designers Nompumlelo Shezi and Nqobisa Ndabeni were named among the top 10 finalists, with Ndabeni going on to claim first place.

School of Fashion Pietermaritzburg managing director Nivasha Beharie said the results reflected the dedication, creativity and craftsmanship of its students and graduates, many of whom have gone on to establish themselves within South Africa’s fashion industry.

“We are overwhelmed with the congratulations and support pouring in for our talented designers. They showed the heart of South African fashion. We are so proud of them,” Beharie said.

This is the heart, hard work and vision of our students. We are humbled, proud and excited for what comes next.
