Two teens arrested with illegal firearms

Members of the SAPS Anti-Economic Crime Task Team and Counterfeit and Illicit Policing team were deployed to Malmesbury after the shooting on Sunday.

Two teenagers have been arrested in Malmesbury for firearm-related offences following a recent mass shooting in the area that left two people dead and eight others injured.

While conducting crime prevention patrols on Wednesday, July 15, officers spotted two males aged 16 and 17 in the street and searched them.

Police confiscated two firearms without serial numbers. One firearm was found with nine rounds of ammunition, while the other had eight rounds.

The teenagers were arrested for possession of prohibited firearms and illegal possession of ammunition.

They are expected to appear in the Malmesbury Magistrate’s Court once charged.
