Man in white bathrobe arrested for alleged drunk driving claims he is doctor, then teacher
When officers did not respond, he allegedly told them: “Duma must fire all of you. You can’t even see that you are harassing a doctor on call.”
A man dressed in a scruffy white bathrobe was arrested in Newcastle for alleged drunk driving after a bizarre roadside encounter in which he claimed to be a doctor, then a teacher, and threatened to report traffic officers to KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Siboniso Duma.
According to an account shared under the provincial Transport Department’s #NenzaniLaEzweni road safety campaign, the allegedly intoxicated motorist was stopped by Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) officers when he challenged them to guess why he was wearing a white gown.

When officers did not respond, he allegedly told them: “Duma must fire all of you. You can’t even see that you are harassing a doctor on call.”
The officers reportedly burst out laughing, prompting the man to insist that his “patients” were waiting for him.
“Why are you laughing? My patients are waiting for me, and you are giggling here. Do you think this is an amusement park?” he allegedly said.
Moments later, however, his story changed.
“Let me go. I don’t have time for games. Schools are re-opening next week. I need to prepare. Otherwise my learners will fail and you will complain as parents,” he was quoted as saying,” he allegedly replied.

The confused officers then reportedly asked him whether he was a doctor or a teacher.
I am a teacher. Do you know a difference between learners and patients?
The man then demanded his iPhone, claiming he wanted to report the officers directly to Duma.
“Give me my iPhone. I want to report you to Duma,” he allegedly said before appearing to make a phone call.
