Man arrested after R2 million dagga haul

Officers responded to the information and searched the identified area, where they discovered and seized the 19 bales of compressed dagga.

A 33-year-old man is expected to appear in the Magudu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 July 2026, after police recovered 19 bales of compressed dagga worth an estimated R2 million.

Police said they received intelligence about four men who were allegedly seen carrying bales of dagga and hiding them in a bushy area near the Pongola River.

Officers responded to the information and searched the identified area, where they discovered and seized the 19 bales of compressed dagga.

One suspect was arrested in connection with the seizure, while police are continuing efforts to locate and arrest the remaining suspects believed to be involved.

The arrested man is expected to face charges relating to the possession and dealing of dagga.
