Man arrested after allegedly kidnapping and shooting at e-hailing driver
The suspect allegedly confronted the driver, accusing him of being involved in a romantic relationship with his girlfriend.
A 45-year-old man has been arrested for kidnapping, unlawful discharge of a firearm and defeating the ends of justice following an incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale on Sunday morning.
According to police, the incident occurred at about 7.30 am after the e-hailing driver had transported a female passenger to a residence in Edenvale.
The suspect allegedly confronted the driver, accusing him of being involved in a romantic relationship with his girlfriend.

Police said the suspect then forced the e-hailing driver into his vehicle and prevented him from leaving. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly discharged a firearm in the driver’s direction.
The e-hailing driver managed to escape unharmed and drove to a nearby police station, where he reported the matter.
Police acted swiftly and arrested the suspect shortly afterwards. Investigations into the incident are continuing.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 June 2026, on charges of kidnapping, unlawful discharge of a firearm and defeating the ends of justice.
