One dead, woman and two children injured in alleged domestic dispute

One person died and three others, including two children, were injured in an alleged domestic dispute in Merrivale on Sunday morning.

A person has died and a woman and two children were injured following an alleged domestic dispute at a residence in Merrivale, Pietermaritburg on Sunday morning.

Paramedics who attended the scene found that one person had died, while three others, including two children, had sustained injuries.

Midlands EMS spokesperson and paramedic Roland Robertson said teams were dispatched following reports of a domestic-related incident at a residence.

Midlands EMS crews, along with Midlands EMS K9 Rescue Medics, responded to a residence in the Merrivale area following reports of a domestic-related incident.

“Upon arrival, paramedics assessed the scene and found that one person showed no signs of life. Nothing more could be done for the patient, who was declared deceased at the scene.

“Three other patients a mother, a nine-year-old child and a two-year-old child were found to have sustained injuries during the incident. Advanced medical care was initiated on scene by paramedics before all three patients were carefully stabilised and transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment and observation,” said Robertson.

The scene was secured, and Midlands EMS personnel worked alongside local authorities to ensure the injured patients received the necessary care as quickly as possible.

Local authorities remained on scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
