Police seize dagga worth R1.5m, arrest two suspects
Police stopped a vehicle travelling from Acornhoek towards Hoedspruit and, during a search, discovered 31 bags of dagga.
Two men aged 38 and 43 have been arrested after police intercepted a dagga consignment worth more than R1.5 million in Hoedspruit, Limpopo.
The suspects were arrested on Thursday at about 1.30 pm during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the SAPS in partnership with Hoedspruit Farm Watch.
Police stopped a vehicle travelling from Acornhoek towards Hoedspruit and, during a search, discovered 31 bags of dagga with an estimated street value of R1.575 million.

The dagga was confiscated as evidence and officers also seized a white Toyota Hilux Twin Cab allegedly used in the commission of the offence.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe commended the officers involved and praised the continued support of community policing structures.
“The seizure of drugs with such a significant street value is a clear indication of our commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks operating within the province. We commend the vigilance of our members and the valuable partnership with community stakeholders in ensuring safer communities,” said Hadebe.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Hoedspruit Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 15.
